We are seeking a Fixed-TermHR Payroll Coordinator (End date 12/31/21) to join our rapidly growing team.
Analytical, driven, attentive to detail â these are just some of the qualities we need in our Payroll Technician. You will be responsible for full cycle new hire, transfer and promotion process for staff and student workers. We are passionate about our work, and hope you are as well!
Processes all new hire, transfer and promotion paperwork for staff and student workers, including scheduling and confirming new hire appointments, processing and verifying new hire documents, uploading all required documents and completing the new hire data input in Workday (opening requisitions, adding job, comp plans and costing allocations, etc.). Ensures all information is accurate and up to date in all HR/Payroll systems (Workday, Kronos, etc.).
Prepares and processes a variety of payroll documents and reports for staff and faculty. Determines nature of transaction and the paperwork and approval process required. Makes necessary computations and gathers and provides all pertinent data, including backup documentation as needed. Identifies exceptions for special handling. Ensures paperwork and reports are processed timely and in accordance with governmental and agency requirements. May review paperwork completed by others.
Provides information to administrators, staff and faculty on payroll policies and procedures. Responds to general inquiries, referring unusual or complex situations to the home department coordinators.
Maintains confidential personnel database and files for the school, department or facility in accordance with established guidelines and policies. Sets up files for new employees. Ensures files of terminated employees are maintained or stored for retrieval as required by law.
Maintains and updates employee attendance records using manual or automated systems. Conducts periodic reviews of the information to ensure accuracy of the records. Provides regular attendance summaries or reports for employees and management.
Controls and distributes payroll checks. Assists employees in resolving questions or discrepancies related to pay.
Researches payroll information, compiles data for analysis and produces standard and ad hoc reports for management.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and University laws and policies.
Ability to train, coach, counsel, and evaluate employees.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Experience in a high-volume work environment.
