Serve as part of the Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS) Human Resources leadership team to assist, develop, and administer human resource activities for the Division; provides guidance to all RHS departments on union contract guidelines and MSU policies and procedures to ensure compliance; handles and resolves all grievances at all steps for RHS, including arbitration, with the authority to make decisions on behalf of RHS; represents RHS in order to negotiate multiple union contracts with MSU Human Resources with the authority to speak and take action on behalf of RHS; interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned support staff; represents RHS on university committees and participates and/or leads project management teams; supervises staff working with OIE regarding investigations relating to violations of RVSM and Anti-Discrimination policies; recommends training and development activities which are pertinent to RHS
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Business or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in contract negotiation, grievance arbitration, human resource management, organizational effectiveness and/or developing training programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and serve a diverse team; knowledgeable about inclusive and equitable human resources policies, practices and procedures; experience with restorative practices, and trauma informed approaches; demonstrated ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with team members and university partners; well-informed on inclusive and equitable retention practices and identity-conscious supervision; the ability to be principled and values driven and to act with integrity.
