HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR , Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) , to manage human resources (HR) activities for 35+ faculty, 70+ postdocs/researchers, and 30+ administrative/support staff. Will counsel and provide advice on HR matters, including personnel policy interpretation and administration, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and position searches. Responsibilities include liaising with the School of Engineering (SoE) Dean's Office and other relevant partners at MIT; advising/assisting with personnel activities, e.g., promotions, salary adjustments, layoffs, job re-classifications, promotions, performance issues, etc.; administering annual salary review processes; coordinating sick leaves, FMLA, and vacation reporting; identifying and resolving employee relation issues; developing and/or upholding, Institute-, SoE-, and department-related policies/procedures; coordinating non-student academic appointments and visa issuance and renewals; managing visitor and research affiliate appointments; sourcing and recruiting for open jobs; collaborating with MIT HR and SoE on job descriptions, position classifications, postings, offers, affirmative action reports, etc.; participating in faculty search process; managing professional development activities; conducting onboarding activities; participating in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee activities and organizing bimonthly DEI seminars; and facilitating/organizing biannual two-day workshops for women in science and engineering and other events.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; four years' HR experience; working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and current HR principles/practices; ability to follow through on tasks and work independently and as part of a team; excellent organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; hands-on management style; effective supervisory skills; initiative; discretion and good judgment with confidential information/issues; attention to detail; and proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
