We are looking for an experienced Controller that can take our Finance Department to the next level. At the same time, managing our fluctuating human resource needs. The Controller + HR Manager will be instrumental in developing and managing the company budget, looking for cost savings opportunities, performing financial analysis and reporting and overseeing all financial and accounting activities. This person will assist in recruiting, onboarding, and managing company benefits. To be successful in this role, the candidate will be comfortable with the intricacies of the chart of accounts, have an awareness of GAAP, and have a background in HR.
Manage the AP/AR procedures, constantly identifying time savings opportunities with our high volume environment.
Utilize Netsuite to generate financial reports as needed for forecasting, month end, closing, and tax preparation
Assist department leads with hiring staff, including posting jobs online, candidate screening, and onboarding
Manage the preparation of and processing of payroll
Oversee benefits enrollment and management
Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
Orchestrate month-end and year-end close activities
Maintains departmental policies and procedures and implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
Review and pay Michigan sales tax
Assist Accounting Clerk as needed

Required Skills and Experience
GED or High School diploma
Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience
Minimum of 3 years experience of human resources experience
Experience leading and managing the work of others
Aptitude for numbers
Fast & accurate data entry and typing skills
Detail oriented and organized
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Great time management, computer, and organizational skills
Have a quiet, remote workplace to work from with high-speed internet (if working remotely)
Preferred Skills and Experience
Automotive and/or manufacturing experience
Retail and/or e-commerce experience
Google Workplace, MS Office skills, Slack, and Netsuite experience
Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
