Vidant Health, a premier, mission-driven, not-for-profit, 8-hospital system with 1,512 combined licensed beds that has been recognized by US News & World Report as one of the nation’s Best Hospitals, announces a national search for a Vice President of Human Resources. The Vice President will serve as the top human resource leader for the flagship 909-bed Vidant Medical Center and have leadership and strategic responsibilities for the HR Business Partners and Employee Relations divisions across the entire Vidant Health system that has over 12,500 employees.
The VP of Human Resources will report directly to the Vidant Health Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and providekey strategic and operational leadership within the health system, assist in the achievement of its strategic and operational goals, and model the behaviors that support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Vidant Health. The VP will serve as a member of the Vidant Medical Center Executive leadership team and the Vidant Health Operational Committee, and participate in other committees related to the Vidant Community Hospitals throughout the system.

ABOUT VIDANT HEALTH:
Vidant Health is a mission-driven, 1,512-bed health system that annually serves more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties. The not-for-profit system is made up of more than 12,500 employees, eight hospitals, home health, hospice, wellness centers, and Vidant Medical Group, a multispecialty physician group with more than 500 primary and specialty providers in over 80 practice sites. Vidant Health is affiliated with The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and currently trains 2,500 students in a variety of fields including nursing and allied health. VMC employs and trains over 300 residents in 14 programs as well as 80 fellows in 20 programs.
Vidant Medical Center (VMC), the system’s flagship 909-licensed bed hospital, is a comprehensive, tertiary referral center with more than 7,600 staff and physicians committed to delivering the highest quality care possible. Annually, the hospital has approximately 45,000 total discharges, 22,000 surgeries (excluding the 10,000+ OP surgeries at Vidant SurgiCenter), 3,600 OB deliveries, and over 170,000 OP visits, including 120,000 ED visits.

Greenville is located approximately 80 miles east from Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, and less than an hour’s drive from the sandy beaches of the coastal shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches of North Carolina are some of the most photographed beaches in the United States and well known for year-round swimming, surfing, boating, wildlife sighting, and fishing.
Greenville has the most extensive health, cultural, entertainment, and educational offerings in Eastern North Carolina and is a major hub of North Carolina’s Tidewater and Coastal Plain. Approximately 175,000 residents live in the Greenville Metropolitan Area. In recent years, Greenville has been named one of the nation’s “100 Best Communities for Young People”, “Best Small Places for Business and Careers”, “Best Places to Retire,” and “Best Performing Small Metro Cities.” Since 2016, nearly a billion dollars has been invested in downtown revitalization, major transportation infrastructure, and other development across the area.
Greenville’s economy is largely driven by healthcare and education. The largest employer is Vidant Health, followed by East Carolina University (including the Brody School of Medicine), and Pitt County Public Schools. The healthcare community in Greenville is one of the largest in the state of North Carolina.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates must have a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Administration, or other related field is required. SPHR, PHR or other recognized human resources certification is preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience as the top HR leader in a complex health care organization is required, with preference given to candidates with experience in an academic medical center environment. Overall minimum of 7-10 years of experience in human resources with experience as a generalist and in employee relations is required.
