Johns Hopkins Human Resources Department is seeking a HR Coordinator who will provide a variety of tasks in support of the HR and Payroll function at The Peabody Institute. Duties cover recruitment and onboarding, payroll, leave and benefits administration, offboarding, and personnel records management. The position will provide a wide range of HR duties to support the Peabody HR Leader and Peabody students, staff, and faculty employees.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Processes payroll for all departments including faculty, staff, and students. This entails initiating all ISR transactions in accordance with proper policies to ensure appropriate employment, benefits, and visa compliance, and receiving and processing weekly timesheets.
Assists in advising managers and processing all employees leave requests to include the administration of sick time, vacation time, holidays, leave of absence, family medical leave and other leaves as available. Will coordinate with university offices in the administration of these efforts as required by JHU policy.
Assists with the student employment function regarding onboarding and time entry.
Assists with recruitment process and onboarding of new staff and faculty.
Manages all record keeping and filing for the office.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
High School Diploma/GED.
Three (3) years related payroll and HR experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Demonstrated Human Resources and payroll knowledge and experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
SAP experience strongly preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires a strong customer service-oriented approach and excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to effectively communicate with all customers.
Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others both within and outside Human Resources.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations in human resources.
Working knowledge of emerging trends and practices in human resources with a continuous quality improvement focus.
On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgments and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs and/or quality of service within the functional area.
Requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Experience writing and analyzing employee position descriptions preferred.
Must have the ability to multitask and perform a variety of tasks.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with various levels within the organization.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
