Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Academic Affairs, the manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day human resource and payroll functions with the Pathology and Cell Biology. The manager will also function as a team lead and will be responsible for managing staff.
Organizational effectiveness (20%)
Partner with Division Leaders as needed to ensure robust and effective goal setting and monitor and support a performance management approach that encourages regular feedback and career development;
Management support and coaching: Advise people leaders on topics that include leadership effectiveness, Diversity, Engagement & Inclusion, team dynamics and talent planning. Identify, develop and implement programs to raise the performance of people leaders and individual contributors;
Training and development: Assist in the development of training programs that address specific department needs;
With the support of the Director of HR and Academic Affairs, partner with Division Leaders to orchestrate issues related to organizational re-structure (i.e., optimal org structure, selection of impacted staff, change management, talent evaluation and retention, etc.).
Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience (20%)
Understands department???s staffing needs and oversees and transacts components of recruitment including sourcing conversations with hiring managers, postings, background check process, offer process, and new hire onboarding;
Seeks to continuously improve recruitment and onboarding process, as needed, to ensure a diverse sourcing pool and an inclusive process;
Run the exit interview processes; figure out any trends and take a proactive approach to resolve future issues;
Support employee leave of absences and workplace accommodations. Tasks include: Tracking leaves of absences; acting as a liaison between employee, management, and the Leave Management office and/or other involved offices; and reporting workplace accidents.
Identify internal opportunities for engagement and recognition activities. Ensure programs support the culture of the department and support employees feeling connected to the overall mission of the organization.
Employee & Labor Relations(20%):
Provide support to the HR Director and leadership pertaining to employee & labor relation issues (including effective, thorough objective investigations; grievance resolution; disciplinary action; termination);
Advise management in appropriate resolution of complex or sensitive employee relations;
Facilitates effective communication with managers and employees on company policies and practices
Supervisor Responsibilities (20%):
Train and guide HR/FA Generalists and Coordinator on all transactional processes;
Develop HR generalist and coordinator in a manner that supports succession planning goals.
Assist HR team with identification of key priorities and problem-resolution, as required;
Oversees union, non-union and casual employee Payroll for the department;
Manages maintenance of timesheets and accrual balances for support staff, non-union support staff, and part-time employees;
Assist with the annual salary and zero-salary roster
Track and ensure compliance concerning I-9 processing, Joint Commission, HIPPA Training, Medical Surveillance, etc.
Other duties as assigned required including but not limited to: (5%)
Assists with the drafting of HR employee communications;
Provides support to Director of HR and Academic Affairs on additional HR projects;
Works in conjunction with CUIMC HR initiatives to help support a culture that values diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Have highly proficient Microsoft Office skills, be comfortable working with databases and computerized financial systems;
Be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment.
Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, firmness, and collaboration in dealing with individuals at all levels.
Advanced degree or training with an HR focus.
