The Human Resources Assistant reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and Payroll. This position will be involved in a number of HR functions, with a focus on supporting the employment cycle, documentation, and reporting.
Coordinate the recruitment process for non-exempt and exempt positions, including job postings internally and externally, follow-up on status of jobs & compliance of hiring process, coordinating interviews and/or working with search committees, conduct background checks, track open positions through reporting
Assist in onboarding and exit processing of staff as needed
Maintain personnel files, including archiving and conducting audits to ensure employee files are accurate and in compliance, proper storage and destruction of data
Ensure I-9 documents are accurately maintained and complete in accordance with federal regulations
Prepare and maintain HR materials such as new hire packets, employee handbook, general HR forms
Provide support for the yearly performance review process, review and track incoming performance appraisal forms
Provide customer service to faculty and staff by responding to phone calls and emails within 24-36 hours.
Serves as a resource on human resources issues, effectively communicates human resource policies, and explain human resource processes and procedures. Resolves basic issues as appropriate. Refer other issues to the Director of Human Resources.
Provide general administrative support for the Human Resource Department
Eventually manage student payroll
Updating the Employee Handbook
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment and health and wellness events
Maintains the college’s organizational chart
Represent the Human Resource Department on college wide committees
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 2-4 years’ experience in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally and discreetly
ADP familiarity a plus
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to serve as a liaison for HR department when interfacing with internal and external partners
High proficiency in MS Office
Prior experience in higher education preferred
