Canton Country Day School, a nonprofit, independent school is seeking a full-time HR/Accounting Generalist. This position is a twelve-month, full-time position and includes health benefits and a salary base range of $60,000 to $65,000, which is competitive with other independent schools of its size and regional location.

Canton Country Day is seeking an experienced, congenial, diplomatic, and collaborative HR/Accounting Generalist. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven person to align our HR initiatives and functions with business objectives and business needs. This person will be an integral part of the administrative team, reporting directly to the Head of School, and will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities in collaboration with the broader team. Roles and Responsibilities for the HR portion of this position:
Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters, leveraging legal counsel and/or insurance coverage as appropriate
Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory data, and organizational chart, and contribute to the development of policies
Ensure that HR policies and procedures for all personnel are well-developed, formally presented, clearly articulated, translated as necessary, consistently applied, and conform to legal requirements
Be available to provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies and procedures for all personnel for business operations
Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
Suggest new HR-department procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization, and to improve employee experience
Distribute any necessary internal/external communications
Manage all hourly, part time, and seasonal employee (e.g., external coaches, substitutes) contracts and onboarding requirements
Coordinate with Athletics Department on anticipated and actual Coaching cycles per internal/external individuals
Coordinate with Summer Camp Directors on anticipated and actual Summer Hires
Manage the Employee Benefits (for example, Open Enrollments, Health Coverage vendors/consortium, One America/vendor, individual employee questions, changes, training); coordinate with accounting partner EdOps
Function as the liaison between contracted vendors (Security and Food Services) and the school: address complaints or disputes with the CCDS Community, initiate timely communication regarding CCDS Calendar updates (days open/closed/half), initiate timely communication regarding updates to on-site policy/protocol
Maintain a database of job descriptions for all roles at the school as well as future roles as relevant.
Ensure compliance with labor regulations (workers compensation/OSHA, FMLA, STD)
Serve as the Retirement Plan Coordinator
Coordinate with the Head of School and Hiring Committee to complete relevant recruiting and hiring tasks for all areas of staffing including management of postings and database throughout all searches
Administer new employee on-boarding and orientation in conjunction with relevant department personnel
Coordinate with the Professional Development team on relevant programming
Monitor, report on and address employee morale and company culture
Conduct exit interviews and recommend post-exit internal corrective action if necessary.
Other duties as requested by Head of School
Roles and Responsibilities for the Accounting portion of this position:
Serve as the operational interface between EdOps and the school, its employees, vendors, and families.
Obtain/retain receipts for school credit cards
Serve as a member of the financial aid committee and as the primary liaison to families regarding financial aid packages, enrollment contracts, and payment of tuition.
Update and review all payroll data files
Engage with EdOps and the Head of School on long term financial and strategic budget planning
Complete and submit grant applications
Prepare non-financial items required by auditors and assist EdOps in resolving and reconciling all outstanding items and issues that arise
Assist the audit/review team during on-site portions of the audit/review
Other duties as requested by Head of School

Complete inquiries and paperwork as needed regarding employee injuries
Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace complaints and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human resource related field, business administration, or in a related field
1-3 years human resources experience
Experience with QuickBooks Pro preferred
Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Google Programs (Google Email, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, etc.)
Google Drive and sharing files/folders
Familiarity with online accounts payable services preferred
Basic knowledge of using a copier/printer
General understanding of Student Information Systems
Working with Apple operating systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work is conducted primarily in an office environment.
Regularly operates a keyboard and computer.
Occasionally lifts and carries approximately 10 pounds.
Remains primarily stationary in an office setting.
