The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology is searching for an experienced, reliable, service-focused and task-oriented Human Resources Coordinator. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the department's payroll transactions and timekeeping administration. Will also assist with all areas of human resources such as employee relations, labor relations, onboarding, recruitment, temporary staffing, visa processing, short-term visitor program, salary adjustments, leave management and other workplace accommodations.
Oversees the payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time and accurately; gathers and tracks time records of employees, calculates hours worked, processes and tracking overtime and on-call payments, overpayment recoveries.
Troubleshoots and follows up on routine payroll-related matters.
Responsible for ensuring timekeeping is entered accurately and approved in accordance with appropriate deadlines and establishing system for tracking and communicating leave time accruals and balances for faculty and staff.
Assists with various Human Resource related activities including hiring and terminations, promotions, attendance, affirmative action, and visa applications/extensions.
Performs general office duties including data entry, preparing correspondence, maintaining files and records, etc.
Provides administrative support to the Human Resources team with academic affairs, human resources and payroll activities as needed.
Assists in special projects as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
Experience working in higher education environment or hospital setting
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and judgment skills
Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office Programs
Self-starter, resourceful, highly motivated and creative
Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
Ability to interact effectively with individuals at different levels, as well as the ability to work in a highly visible fast paced environment all under the aegis of confidentiality
Must be able to identify and respond to organizational needs, analyze problems and identify solutions
