Provides strategic and operational leadership for HR Operations functions. Manages the HR Operations team to accurately enter transactional and related data into the Banner system that drives the payroll production each pay period, implements and maintains any new system modifications, prepares reports and provides data integrity. Works closely with other HR professionals, IT, Payroll and Budget and every day users to articulate processes and procedures, identifies and resolves issues.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination, training and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired; five years experience in Human Resources, preferably in an academic environment; demonstrated proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, typing, grammar, spelling and oral and written communications.
Experience in management and coaching of personnel.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; knowledge of customer service principles and processes.
Action oriented, problem-solver, critical thinking skills, flexibility, good judgment and discretion, positive attitude, tactful.
Demonstrated experience in continuous process improvement and/or process re-engineering.
Certifications: PHR, SPHR.
Banner or Ellucian experience.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Oversees the timely data entry of information for all individuals paid via the payroll system ensuring that the quality and integrity of each transaction is consistent with established protocol. (20%)
Ensures accuracy and completeness of data and data entry by establishing and implementing a qualify control and auditing process. Establishes monitoring protocols and systems to understand, quantify and make actionable recommendations for improved service based on data driven metrics and analytics (including errors, error rates, production rates, etc.) prepares reports and presents to senior management as required. (20%)
Contributes to the development of policies, practices and guidelines for efficient operations and monitors their implementation and impact. Interprets policies and educates employees and managers regarding the appropriate application. Collaborates with other leaders in Human Resources to ensure coordinated handling, messaging and implementation of items. (25%)
Primarily office setting; must be available to work extra hours at peak periods; required to interface effectively with all levels of the university workforce.
