Hourly Rate Range: | $19-$20/hour | Job Summary: | The Human Resource Representative plays an integral role supporting the recruiting function and contributes to the overall success of the SMU HR Department. This role provides a high level of support to the HR Business Partners (HRBPs), the Sr. HR Representatives, and various members of the HR staff. This position will be working closely with talent acquisition and talent management, however, will also be asked to serve on various cross functional teams and support the HR department as a whole. This position is responsible for providing administrative and project assistance and interacts with various business leaders, business units, employees and candidates. | Essential Functions: | - The HR Representative will assist with the communication & outreach on behalf of the TATM Team including: candidate correspondence, website management, posting external advertising, participation in career fairs, candidate assessment set up, front desk support & other activities representing the HR Department & TATM Team.
- On a rotation schedule, facilitates New Employee Orientation for new benefit-eligible staff, faculty, and post-docs.
- Processes new hire paperwork, employee data forms, I-9 processing and ensures accuracy and compliance.
- Assists with the temporary hiring process by working with Kelly Services and various campus partners. Ensures successful on-boarding for temporary staff, creation of SMU IDs, and troubleshoots and issues.
- Supports the on-boarding process for new and transferring employees. Ensures completion for all University background pre-employment checks (criminal, education, credit, DMV); creates, distributes & assembles new hire documents; and serves as point of contact for new employee inquiries & support. This position also supports the faculty on-boarding process ensuring completion and compliance.
- Serves on cross functional teams in support the the HR department and other special projects and assignments, as needed.
| Qualifications Education and Experience: | A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in HR is required. Previous experience specifically in Talent Acquisition, HRIS and/or ATS systems, and training and on-boarding new employees is preferred. PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certifications are desired. | Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | The ideal candidate will have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation. Time management and organizational/planning skills are necessary for the role. Project management skills and a strong attention to detail are also key for theposition. Candidate should be an innovative problem solver and have a working knowledge of relevant regulations applicable to employment (FLSA, background checks, etc.) and immigration laws and visas. Candidate with previous experience with HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems, specifically, Taleo, preferred. Candidate must demonstrate ability to learn new technology and adapt it to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes. Software Skills -
Proficiency in MS Office required(MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.) -
Working knowledge of HRIS and ATS (PeopleSoft and Taleo) is preferred. -
