Serves as the primary HR liaison supporting the FPP and WUCA. Facilitates certain processes and required programs such as employee leaves, accommodations, recruitment and employee on-boarding. Collaborates with the Employee Relations team and other HR team members in order to provide HR services to their assigned department. Responds in a timely manner to University manager and employee questions regarding policies, practices and procedures. Position reports to the Office of Human Resources with a dotted line reporting relationship to FPP leadership.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a first point of contact to answer basic policy questions for managers and employees throughout the assigned department, triaging questions as necessary for the Operations, Employee Relations and Human Resources teams.
Supports assigned department employee relations matters by collecting information and evaluating various HR matters; provides input and contributes to identifying solutions to problems presented. May counsel department management and employees on less complex disciplinary matters, policy interpretation and application, training and other measures which address employee performance or conduct.
Works closely with the HR Talent Acquisition team to provides support for the talent acquisition process that integrates department practices. Works closely with leadership, hiring managers to implement and manage the talent acquisition process. Ensures pre-employment screening tests and assessments are administered according to departmental expectations. May performs employment reference checks and verifies required license/certifications on applicants. Ensures drug screens and background checks are completed prior to start date if applicable.
Acts as a liaison between the department and the HR Leaves team, ensuring the timely facilitation of employee leaves. Provides reporting data on leaves as required to departmental leadership.
Provides guidance and coaching for departmental compliance on employment laws/regulations and policies on recruitment, employment and hiring. Provides guidance to management regarding compliance with federal or university applicant screening and tracking requirements. Coordinates with financial administration to ensure successful completion of onboarding checklist and departmental induction.
Maintains, coordinates and may assist in the facilitation of management and staff member training forums on Human Resource policies within the assigned department. Assists with the onboarding process for new employees.
Works with Compensation to provide equity and market evaluations. Updates and evaluates job descriptions. Helps perform job evaluations and maintain overall department organizational structure.
Works with managers to maintain employee performance and performance evaluations. Maintains annual review process and implements procedure and policy for new hire and performance improvement plans.
Assists with projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of related HR experience.
System knowledge of PeopleSoft, Workday, and Outlook.
Understanding of FMLA, FLSA, and general payroll knowledge.
Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including experience with influencing techniques and change management.
Knowledge and experience dealing with various employment laws.
Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
Success in building strong partnerships with internal customers.
Ability to work as a member of collaborative team.
Understanding of how human resource policies and practices impact general University business functions to meet needs of departments.
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

The hiring range for this position is $51,293 - $66,685 annually.
