The Division of Enrollment Management represents the Offices of Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships and the University Registrar. These key functional offices support the campus goals to recruit, retain and provide a first-in-class education to the most talented students, regardless of background. The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is a key contributor to student success and student access in higher education, administering all types of financial assistance for eligible students demonstrating financial need, academic merit, and/or other merit factor(s). This includes, but is not limited to scholarships, grants, loans, and/or work-study awards.
Applies professional human resources, student aid, organization, and department policies and procedures to provide guidance to central campus units, supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity. Coordinates and serves as primary campus subject matter expert for the campuswide work-study programs.
3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Analytical skills to reconcile/research data, assess/conduct analysis, develop projections, and make justified recommendations utilizing multiple sources on a broad range of student financial support and accounting areas. Demonstrates organizational, problem identification, critical thinking, problem-solving, professional judgement and decision-making skills/abilities. Has working knowledge of other areas of HR, and accounting.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area to ensure compliance. Recommends and provides justification for policy and process improvement utilizing interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of human resources and protected data policies, practices, and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures, utilizing tact and diplomacy.
Advanced knowledge of accounting policies, practices, and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures.
Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), time reporting system, financial accounting system and / or other related business software programs and systems.
Experience using complex databases. Ability to define specifications for database programming.
Demonstrated proficiency utilizing MS Office applications in a Windows environment. Experienced with advanced functions in MS Excel including Pivot Tables, linked tables and worksheets, complex formula development, etc.
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
Skill to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans. Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
Broad knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid, including regulations related to the administration of the federal work-study program.
Experience with UC personnel/payroll policies, procedures and practices, and interpreting collective bargaining contracts and employment laws.
Knowledge of Kuali Financial System (KFS), UCPath/Peoplesoft, and FAME systems.
Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Special Conditions Required:
Must successfully pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) background check. Occasional nights and weekends required.
