The Siena School is seeking to fill the position of Finance and Human Resources Specialist. The Siena School, founded in 2006, currently has a campus, with 135 students, in Silver Spring, MD, and is expanding to Northern Virginia, beginning with grades 3-8 with limited enrollment. The school serves bright college-bound students with mild to moderate language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia.
The Finance Specialist will be an integral part of The Siena School administrative team, working from Silver Spring, and will report directly to the Business Manager and will support the Business Manager in any or all facets of Finance and Human Resources as related to the two campuses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with all aspects of the business office to include tuition billing and collection, incidental billing, auxiliary programs, accounts payable/receivables, credit card and bank reconciliations, and payroll.
Monitors all income and expenses, vendor contracts, risk management, and banking activities.
Updates and maintains confidential personnel files, and assists with the hiring and on-boarding of all new employees. Stays current on new legislation and compliance requirements. Ensures that human resource policies and practices are clearly articulated and consistently applied.
Helps to administer employee benefit programs to include health care, group insurance, and retirement fund.
Works with CPA and the Business Manager to provide reporting for taxes and annual audit. Prepares vendor 1099’s.
Assists with preparing the annual budget. Provides regular financial reports for school leadership and the board.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree, accounting or finance preferred
A minimum of three years of experience in finance/accounting
Prior experience with Human Resources is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with a school environment is a plus.
Proficiency with Quickbooks, and Excel preferred
Proven success as a team player

Ability to set priorities, organize, analyze, work independently, meet deadlines, problem solve, and multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and is detail oriented.
The ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and other school community members.
