The Division of Enrollment Management (EM) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UT) invites applications and nominations for our Human Resources Specialist position. The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 150 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and Research & Analytics. This position will serve all departments in EM working closely with our accounting specialist and reporting to the director.
Functions and Responsibilities:
Review, update, and draft position descriptions for new and existing positions working in conjunction with Human Resources (HR), departments, and director. Review and edit position announcements to ensure continuity across EM and with position descriptions. Submit position announcements for posting to UT jobs site and consult with department head to determine advertising needs. Provide guidance on the hiring process including explanation of recruitment-related policies and procedures. In collaboration with department head, director, and UT HR Office, enter job offers for new hires, process hiring paperwork, ensure compliance with I-9 and background check completion, and coordinate start/orientation date with candidates. Conduct salary and organizational structure benchmarking research. Initiate IRIS terminations, employee transfers, and facilitate exit process to ensure all requirements are met. Responsible for updating organizational charts as part of hiring/exit process. Assist with development and assessment of EM employee orientation and on-boarding process. Track vacancies and searches in progress providing reports upon request. As needed, serve as back-up support for time entry, travel booking, processing travel requests/expense reports, and various administrative assignments.
