POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Human Resources (ADHR) manages and coordinates a variety of human resource functions for the college.  This position will work closely with the Director of Human Resources as necessary with all aspects of human resources and will play a key role in creating an open, respectful, and collaborative work environment. The ADHR will have a working knowledge of benefits management, payroll, recruitment and selection as well as employment laws and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist Director in providing work assignments, assistance, and support for human resources generalists and coordinator.
• Provide employee assistance and information for a wide variety of human resources issues to include payroll, benefits, leaves, and policy;
• Produce internal and external surveys and census reports;
• Administer government and legal reports;
• Work with vendors and Director to administer the employee health programs; assure compliance with appropriate laws and policies.
  • Provide and disseminate benefits information. Counsel and inform employees in benefit selection.
  • Responsible for coordinating and holding all aspects of annual “open enrollment”
  • Keep Director abreast of discrepancies and related problems.
• Assist the Director with employee relations function by investigating employee complaints, directing and managing employee disciplinary procedures and resolving workplace disputes. Have the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
• Process (voluntary) terminations, conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations to the Human Resources Director based on information obtained.
• Manage annual MICU audit.
• Maintain a productive working relationship with the Payroll Office.
• Strictly follow established procedures related to confidentiality of data.
• Assists the Director with employee classification, creating and reviewing job descriptions and providing guidance on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption status and determining proper classification.
• Assist in assuring compliance with various federal and state laws, rules and regulations related to HR functions.
• Attend relevant workshops and conferences as required.
• Special projects and additional duties as required.
