ADMINISTRATOR FOR HUMAN RESOURCES (HR), EHS, AND FACILITIES , Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS) , to be responsible for administrative, HR, facilities, safety, and operational matters for a large, world-class research facility (of about 250 faculty, staff, and graduate students) engaged in experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics research. A significant fraction of the researchers are located off-site at national and international laboratories. Will work closely with the director and associate director on day-to-day management of LNS, which includes the MIT-Bates Laboratory, Center for Theoretical Physics, and MIT Central Machine Shop. Responsibilities include managing all HR activity, including the hiring, promotion and development, layoff, and termination processes; acting as a point of contact for diversity, equity, and inclusion questions/issues; and providing advice on HR policy, procedures, and best practices. Will also coordinate efforts of centrally-supported LNS administrative assistants; oversee maintenance of building space and systems; serve as the environment, health and safety coordinator (EHS), developing plans/procedures and working with faculty lab representatives to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with MIT's EHS management system; and supervise four support and two union staff members.
