Essential Job Duties:
The HR Partner will lead in the operational efforts of payroll, hiring of minors in our youth recruitment campus, onboarding, leave and time management, salary administration through labor budget allocations, and international employment compliance.
The Office of Human Resources for the Wilson College works routinely and closely with the Finance and Research Offices within the college, specifically in terms of salary administration, position control, salary release, summer salary and other additional payments that may or may not include non-salary compensation.
The HR Partner will: reconcile all labor budget allocations on a monthly basis for all account types-regardless of appointment, process salary distributions and redistributions, aid in bi-annual position control strategy reviews, serve as initiator for additional compensation actions, and initiate and monitor non-salary compensation.
Payroll Manager: Responsible for all aspects of the Wilson College payroll. Independent critical analysis and key action on time sensitive data is required. Will be responsible for providing top level consultation on intake of requests through to completion. This process requires creative analysis on all policies to find the best outcome for the employees of the Wilson College, all the while limiting liability to the College and University.
Leadership in I-9 and Visa Compliance: We continue to face ongoing challenges in light of new legislation and federal processes, and with our growing diversified population, it is important we provide timely top level service to our community with creative solutions. It is essential for the HR Partner to provide on-going oversight of visiting scholars and consultation for international student scholars working within the College.
College Onboarding: Lead the Wilson College Onboarding program, providing onboarding to all new employees, and continually analyzing the program to ensure accurate, timely, and helpful information is provided to the employee upon joining the Wilson College. Continue to regularly connect with recently hired employees to ensure employees have the knowledge and resources they need to succeed in their new position.
College Leave Manager: Oversee specialty leave programming for Faculty, Staff and Post Docs.
Student and Temporary Hire Manager: Will be key in overseeing all aspects of the hiring process for all biweekly employees. This includes for student hourly appointments, non-student appointments, work-study appointments and graduate assistants.
Recruitment: Manage aspects of hiring for post docs, staff, and faculty. Create job descriptions, postings, waivers, and process the hire actions for all incoming employee classifications.
Training and Development: Oversight of required and mandated trainings for all employees within the Wilson College. Will deliver customized trainings to employees guidelines associated with the Office of Human Resources for the Wilson College of Textiles, on such topics as the Wilson College Orientation, inviting a visiting scholar, hiring student workers and past students, managing FLSA non-exempt employees through the time clock, etc.
Tracking of college professional development expenditures and budget.
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Demonstrated experience performing with precision, determination and positive attitude.
Established work history of developing positive working relationships with faculty and staff in an effort to promote engagement and collegiality in the workplace.
Proven experience having developed and implemented value added strategies in support of the academic, research, extension and service mission of a university
Experience having worked in an academic setting with diverse populations.
Demonstrated aptitude of self-discipline and focus.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
4+ years of progressive HR experience
2+ years experience working as a generalist with a high degree of autonomy
Advanced work experience using various software systems: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs, and web-based data systems.
