Reporting directly to the college president, the Director of Human Resources provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the human resources activities of the college, overseeing the recruitment, training, development and engagement of talent for all divisions of the college.
Principles of diversity, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity will be applied to all college human resources practices. This position involves significant discretion and substantial involvement in the development, interpretation and implementation of college policy. This position provides confidential advice to the president and administrative team.
Provide leadership, direction, policy and procedure development and implementation in the following areas:
Collective Bargaining Agreement and Personnel Plan Administration
Employee Engagement and Performance Management
Classification, Compensation, and Benefits Administration
Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding
Provide leadership and direction, to develop, implement and manage policies and procedures for strategic workforce planning, succession planning, recruitment, employee development and training, and performance management to ensure compliance with Minnesota statutes, agency and statewide rules and regulations, bargaining unit agreements, and federal laws.
Training and Development
Chair the Professional Development Committee and provide leadership, direction, policy and procedure development and implementation in the areas of employee training and development and mandatory training programs. Develop, implement, and lead appropriate organizational training and professional development programming for classified and unclassified staff.
HRIS Systems Administration
Work with the Minnesota State Service Center and supervise the administration, management, and maintenance of the MN State College and the State of Minnesota SEMA4 systems to ensure accurate and timely employee payroll and benefit transactional processing and system interface on a weekly basis and during system audits. Ensure HR team receives on-going HR relevant training, user group updates, system emails and other pertinent information, so that the HR team continues to provide excellent HR customer service to Century employees.
Personnel Management and Supervision
Provide supervisory authority for direct reports in the areas of human resources and affirmative action to achieve the objectives of each area.
As the Affirmative Action Officer, develop and implement the college's bi-annual Affirmative Action Plan.
Serve as the College's Data Practices Compliance Official.
Serve at the College's Chair of the Policy Committee
The Director must have the expertise and experience to lead the human resources activities of a public higher education institution either 2- or 4-year, student-centered college and possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Personnel Administration, or related field
Five or more years of successful and progressively responsible professional experience in human resource management in a medium to large organization.
