DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION , Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) , to support MIT's mission by providing the expertise, leadership, and overall management of the human resources (HR) functions in VPR. Will coordinate with the vice president for research, assistant provost for research administration, director of research administration and compliance, and other leaders and managers to align HR strategies with the mission of the VPR; provide leadership for all HR activities including performance management, training and development, employee relations, recruitment and retention, diversity and inclusion, compensation, conflict resolution, and strategic planning; oversee the hiring process for units reporting to the VPR and ensure compliance with serious search and affirmative action requirements; manage complaint process for HR-related issues; lead initiatives to establish best practices in HR and research administration; implement annual salary review process and outside professional activities reporting; manage process for principal research scientist and senior research scientist cases; and oversee VPR office operations. Will report to the director of research administration and compliance.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: a B.A./B.S.; ten years of work experience in higher education, with a primary focus in the area of human resources; knowledge of federal and state employment laws and current HR principles, practices, and trends; demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to foster an environment that promotes teamwork and teambuilding; and proven, effective interpersonal skills for interacting with and leading people at all levels of the organization.
