Develop an HR agenda and strategies to support the strategic mission and Community Values of Harvard Medical School.
Guide the HR team in all aspects of human resources and continue developing a responsive, credible and effective function. Direct the team to effectively deliver relevant, innovative and service-focused resolutions for the school leadership and employees.
Align HR priorities with HMS and Senior Administrative Leadership Team strategic priorities.
Partner with the HMS Chief Information Officer to ensure Human Resources effective systems and trusted data sources to inform decisions and enable compliance.
Support the ability of staff members to operate more efficiently and effectively.
Provide counsel and guidance to the Medical School's senior leaders and community to create an inclusive and collaborative culture. Build an HR strategy to ensure a diverse, inclusive and high- performing workforce.
Drive innovative talent acquisition and management strategy and provide data-driven competitive solutions. Promote effective plans and programs aimed at sourcing, evaluating, recruiting, assimilating and developing strong talent.
Strengthen outreach and hiring practices to broaden the diversity and inclusion of the HMS community.
Drive commitment to a culture of change and adaptability; of less bureaucratic processes; of lower hierarchical barriers to intra-office collaboration; and a freedom to recommend innovation.
Analyze the effectiveness of OHR procedures and oversee the evolution from what has been viewed externally as primarily transactional to a more collaborative, responsive, pro-active relationship with our clients.
Actively engage in school-wide committee initiatives.
Design and deliver measures of accountability to assess and ensure service excellence; measure the achievement of goals and expectations; assess the effectiveness of programs and services, and promote evidence-based decision making.
Foster productive and collaborative relationships with senior leaders in Faculty Affairs, Diversity and Community Partnerships and other academic and research departments.
Integrate the HMS Community Values more broadly into all HR activities.The CHRO will also work collaboratively with the University's Vice President for Human Resources to ensure alignment with and implementation of broader university goals and initiatives.

A bachelor's degree in related field required. At least fifteen years of progressively responsible human resources management experience.
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred
Experience working in higher education, working with both faculty and staff is highly desirable.
Experience operating on a senior leadership team, creating quick credibility and adding value to strategy beyond human resources.
Successful record of leading people and teams.
Highly skilled in all aspects of communication (written, interpersonal, and presentation), relationship building, and ability to manage conflict and problem-solve to achieve successful outcomes.
Demonstrated competence in building and leading an effective and cohesive team. Experience working in a unionized environment is helpful.
Experience working in an environment with faculty and students is preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading within an environment undergoing transformational change.
Experience and proven track record of building, re-building or transforming HR infrastructure.
Demonstrated commitment and experience with process improvement.
