Duties and Responsibilities
Employee and Labor Relations
Works closely with management team, supervisors and employees on personnel issues. Assists the Chief HR Officer with administration of collective bargaining agreements and management of employee relation grievance process. May assist in mediation conflict. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; coordinates effective, thorough and objective investigations.
Develops working relationship with respective business units including conducting weekly meetings. Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions.
Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Responsible for conducting exit interviews; reporting tends and making recommendations for improvement.
Act as Title IX Coordinator, overseeing complaint investigations and assisting to develop staff awareness and implementing training programs
Responsible for all College recruitment and employment offers. Assists Departments with the implementation of the college on boarding program to retain and develop new employees.
Participate in assisting Departments and search committees with the interpretation and implementation of the College hiring policies including the recruitment, interview and selection process as assigned.
Provide assistance in offering new employee orientation programs to college employees.
Assist with College tenure process for faculty and unit professionals.
Act as the liaison with department managers, Academic and Student Affairs, Payroll and IT for coordination of temporary employee and adjunct faculty contracts, including coordination and maintaining spreadsheets of work assignments
Works closely with management team on administration and verification of all employee contracts
Oversee and manage coordination of adjunct contract and temporary employee contracts using SharePoint including verification of salaries/step for adjunct faculty contracts
Conduct position audits, develop and analyze job descriptions for appropriate grading and FLSA status, internal equity and market analysis
Training and Development
Responsible for staff development and training programs; Affirmative Action; sexual harassment; performance management and employee relations. Assists the Director with the development of strategies for staff development and training
Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs and ensures training objectives are met.
Organizational Effective and Efficiency
Provide information on strategic planning; policy matters and critical personnel issues.
Participate in drafting new or updating college policies and procedures.
Prepare contractual and compliance reports and applications.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other appropriate field; Master's degree preferred
8-10 years' experience as generalist; extensive experience in Labor Relations preferably in higher education
SPHR certification preferred
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines; including recruitment, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, performance management and federal and state employment laws.
Planning, negotiating and supervisory skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of wage and compensation programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS systems; HR/CMS, Microsoft Office, Interview Exchange
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel to meetings throughout the Commonwealth.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000 annually
