SUMMARY We are currently working with a privately held manufacturer to identify a Payroll Specialist / HR Coordinator. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a full benefits package and a Monday - Friday daylight schedule.
Reporting to the Director of HR/Safety and indirectly to two Sr. HR Generalists, this person will be responsible for hourly and salaried payroll for approximately 280 hourly and 120 salaried employees. Hourly payroll is biweekly and salaried payroll once a month. This person will also be responsible for other support activities in the HR department and providing accurate information to accounting for month end closing. This person will understand the importance of providing “customer service” to employees who come into the HR department with questions and to discuss issues.
POSITION Responsibilities include: • Responsible for the HRIS/pay administration responsibilities, such as processing payroll, compiling payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records; reviewing payroll information for accuracy before processing; reconciling payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions; troubleshooting and providing business unit user instruction and support, and supporting system set up, testing, and reporting. • Responsible for time and attendance enrollment, company vacation tracking and processing. • Responsible for paperwork and tracking of all pay rate changes. • Accurately maintains and updates Employee information in the Human Resources Information System. • Responsible for accurately maintaining the Employee personnel files, both physically and electronically. • Assists in the administration and payment of all benefits, including medical, prescription, dental, life insurance, short term disability, AD&D, voluntary benefits and COBRA. • Ensures that the clerical end of Benefits Administration – enrollment, changes, monthly premium payments and COBRA Administration – are accurately and promptly administered. • Types, posts and tracks Job Posting Notices and weekly newsletters. • Assists Human Resources Department with employee orientation and Affirmative Action efforts, as needed. • Maintains confidentiality at the highest level. • Maintain legal compliance in all areas of work. • Assist others in the department with special projects i.e. Kennywood, 25-year club, Wellness Fair, Employee recognition events, mailings. • Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules. • Must have ability and desire to work with others.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, at least 3-5 years’ experience in payroll or equivalent work experience processing payroll and administering pay systems. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. • UltiPro or other HRIS systems experience required. • High attention to detail and accuracy is essential for this position. • Proven experience in problem solving. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
