The Human Resource Specialist serves as the Human Resources Representative for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).
The Human Resources Specialists responsibilities include:
Completing I-9s, reviewing and entering bi-weekly temp appointments,
Drafting offer letters, submitting position requests and updates in PeopleAdmin.
Posting job vacancies in NC State’s PeopleAdmin system, submitting hiring packets to the College, and completing visa requests.
This position entails using good judgement to complete tasks as efficiently as possible. This position sometimes functions independently and without the help of others.
Provide administrative support to the Department Head, including scheduling meetings, answering phone, assisting with special projects, making travel arrangements, submitting travel reimbursements, completing travel authorizations and reimbursements.
Assists with planning and coordination of special projects and meetings such as the External Advisory Board Meeting. Assists with Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Proficiency with MS Excel and Word, or similar software.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Associate's degree or higher.
At least one year of experience in an administrative role in an HR or accounting environment.
Experience with PeopleSoft HR and Financials (or similar software).
Experience working with federal non-immigrant visa regulations.
