The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC is seeking a trustworthy, knowledgeable, energetic and highly organized Human Resources Leave & Workers Compensation Coordinator to join the HR team.
This position plays a critical role in supporting three divisions including the Mrs. T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science & Therapy and the USC Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy. The Human Resources Leave & Workers Compensation Coordinator will provide support in the daily operations of the HR department with responsibilities including workers compensation, leaves, and disability functions. The individual will work closely with the Human Resources Manager to develop and implement short/long term strategic plans focusing on culture, engagement, and positive employee work environments.
In this fast paced, ever-changing environment, the selected candidate will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Assists in the internal resolutions of employee grievances.
Facilitates benefits, disability, and workers compensation cases.
Maintains accurate records on leaves/disability and workers compensation cases
Maintains health & safety compliance records involving compliance requirements
Assists in developing and streamlining processes and SOPs.
Provides guidance for staff on university payroll and personnel policies and procedures
Assists staff with salary administration questions and ensures payroll transactions are delivered in a timely fashion
Tracks central department budgets and reconciles Account Status Reports.

The HR team is seeking an analytical self-starter who is relatable and collaborative as this individual will be working with a variety of personnel. The successful candidate should have an excellent knowledge of FMLA/CFRA/PDL laws as well as ADA involving worker with disability, understanding of OSHA guidelines in healthcare, and have a strong background in payroll. It is critical for this individual to possess strong verbal/written communication skills, exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, and take ownership and drive execution.

Preferred Field of Expertise: Payroll and personnel experience preferably in a university setting
