Human Resource Assistant
The College at Brockport
The Office of Human Resources at The College at Brockport, State University of New York is accepting applications for a Human Resources Assistant. This position will report to the Associate Director of Human Resources.
Major Responsibilities Appointment and Employment Transaction
Reviews new hire and current employee appointment paperwork for accuracy. Works with departments to ensure paperwork is received in a timely manner and contains accurate information and necessary attachments. Enters and maintains all employee data required to appoint employees into the human resource information system including demographics, directory, and education. Administers and processes a variety of employment actions including new hires, reappointments, summer session, paid and unpaid leaves and terminations. Inputs data into a variety of systems and tracks future actions. Provides departments with guidance in accordance with SUNY and union contract policies with regards to appointment and required paperwork. Calculates contractual salary increases for part-time faculty and responds to administrative and academic departments' questions regarding part-time faculty.
Assists campus departments as well as other campuses to ensure accurate paperwork is obtained. Administers, reviews and processes extra service compensation transactions into SUNYHR.
Issues, tracks and monitors professional, classified and M/C staff performance program/evaluation notices according to timelines. Generates status reports as needed including reports sent to senior college officials. Responds to routine performance management questions and advises supervisors and employees on aspects of the collective bargaining agreements that pertain to performance management in consultation with senior HR staff. Notifies supervisors of classified probationary employees' appointment requirements. Tracks classified service probationary appointments.
Supports the ongoing maintenance of the Everfi online training system. Works closely with IT on technology issues related to system usage and design as well as maintaining active employee lists and notifications. Distribute training announcements on the Daily Eagle.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related field, from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization; demonstrated ability to exercise tact and diplomacy; excellent attention to detail, organization and problem solving skills; effective interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff and students; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and proven record of personal integrity; excellent customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple duties; demonstrates the ability to work independently and work collaboratively as part of a team; and, proven record of personal integrity, ethical behavior and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of SUNY HR systems and knowledge of Policies of Board of Trustees and union contracts.

Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience and will range from high $40' to low $50's. We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurances, retirement and generous paid time off.
