The Deputy Title IX Coordinator supports Kingsborough Community College's compliance with laws and rules relating to sexual misconduct on campus (primarily Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as well as New York State's Enough is Enough Law) and works closely across a diverse college community to foster a safe and supportive work and educational environment.
Under the guidance of the Chief Diversity Officer/Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator:
Manages the implementation of CUNY's policy on sexual misconduct, procedures and initiatives to support CUNY's strong commitment to a diverse, respectful, and harassment-free workplace and educational setting.
Investigates and resolves sexual misconduct complaints in a prompt, thorough and impartial manner. Uses investigation protocols to plan each investigation, conduct interviews, and collect relevant information and documentation, and issue findings. Prepares comprehensive investigation reports and closing memoranda. Advises parties to a complaint, as appropriate, on the reporting process, case disposition, and the interim and supportive resources available at the college and in the community.
Works with the college Chief Diversity Officer/Title IX Coordinator in managing the Title IX Compliance Program. Maintains and monitors data related to the status and outcome of complaints and investigations. Evaluates investigative practices and recommends improvements. Assists in preparing periodic and annual reports and audits.
Implements an education and training program for students and employees in accordance with CUNY's policy on sexual misconduct, Title IX, and New York State's Enough is Enough Law.
Collaborates with others across campus (particularly with Student Affairs, Human Resources, and Public Safety) to conduct training, prevention, and education efforts, and to periodically review campus climate and culture.
May handle the investigation and resolution of discrimination complaints (in addition to Title IX complaints).
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required, preferably in a field such as law, student conduct, student life, or human resources.
J.D. or advanced degree in a related field is preferred and may be substituted for up to two-years of experience.
Experience specifically working on Title IX compliance and in conducting sexual misconduct investigations in a higher education setting is highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability in investigating and resolving sexual misconduct complaints with sensitivity in a prompt, fair, and thorough manner in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism
Strong presentation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Willingness to work collaboratively as a team player with diverse groups and campus partners
Ability to perform in a time-sensitive environment and work independently
Ability to maintain confidentiality as needed
Computer applications proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Collects, analyzes, and prepares reports, identifying and presenting findings, patterns and trends, and recommending college policy and procedural changes
Performs related duties as assigned.
