HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR , Media Lab , to work with minimal supervision on the provision of a wide range of HR services to a 500+ person research lab as part of a four-person HR team. Will serve as a key resource for faculty and staff regarding MIT policies/procedures and oversee the majority of the organization's transactional, recordkeeping, and compliance activity. Responsibilities include screening resumes, interviewing, and preparing interview and offer documentation; developing job descriptions; writing search plans/waivers; advising hiring managers on advertising, job postings, interviewing, reference checking, etc.; overseeing visa requests; overseeing new employee/visitor and MITemp onboarding; coordinating visiting and postdoctoral associate/fellows appointments; assisting with administration of performance and annual salary review processes; resolving routine employee relations and interpersonal issues; overseeing recordkeeping and compliance requirements; developing content for and managing monthly staff enrichment seminars; collaborating with HR leadership to identify and organize employee training; administering the rewards and recognition program; producing and analyzing reports; overseeing HR financial activities; and participating in projects/initiatives as needed; and supervision one full-time support staff position.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in related field; two years' HR generalist experience; working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and current HR principles/practices; excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, customer service, interpersonal, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills; meticulous attention to detail; discretion with confidential information; collaborative approach to delivering services/solutions and working with a diverse group of employees; and MS Office proficiency, particularly Excel. Must be able to juggle and prioritize multiple assignments; follow through on tasks; and work independently, proactively, and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
