Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior HR Data Analyst for University Human Resources (UHR). This position reports to the Associate Vice President for HR Operations. The Senior HR Data Analyst develops, proposes, and implements the framework and components for a data analytics and metrics program to actively support the strategic goals and objectives of UHR while providing university units with current metrics and dashboards to make data-informed decisions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Leads the execution of any data analytics and visualization tasks during the full life cycle of each project, which may include data sourcing and blending, query design, analysis of query results, and development of visualizations for incorporation into client deliverables such as reports and management dashboards.
Identifies, acquires, and builds datasets needed to design and develop queries and workflows to be used for continuous monitoring. Reviews and analyzes query results to identify items of interest for review by university units.
Performs analytics for projects and initiatives as required for all UHR functional areas. Identifies, acquires, and builds datasets that enable the efficiency and effectiveness of data interpretation and application of data trends to monitor and improve processes and procedures, and continually enhance the customer experience.
Acts as a resource to collaborate with and assist units in optimizing the usage of implemented queries and workflows. Works on assigned projects, independently or in coordination with clients, based on the scope and nature of the data analytics component of the project.
Plays a critical role in strengthening HR's strategic business partnerships by collaborating with customers and serving as workforce analytics and strategy expert and providing university units with current metrics and dashboards to make data-informed decisions.
As the subject matter expert, collaborates with and mentors UHR staff to build and mature data analytics capabilities. Promotes and facilitates access and training to the university community in the use of reports and dashboards.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree is required in Business, Economics, Human Resources or Mathematics, or related field.
A minimum of five (5) years' experience is required with metrics, analytics, or other data-focused area.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven skills analyzing and interpreting data.
Ability to effectively partner with others and remain customer service focused by meeting the needs of the business.
Strong attention to detail and easily adapts to new assignments, systems, and tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Advance knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and graphs.
Understanding of ERP Systems, particularly Oracle, and resulting data, including data warehouses with the ability to independently explore and build data sources as needed.
Advanced degree in a related field, and experience in a higher education setting.
