Reporting to the associate director of human resources /affirmative action officer, this full-time management confidential position serves as a human resources generalist providing proactive leadership, guidance and partnership to the administration, faculty, and staff. Key areas of contribution include supporting recruitment and selection efforts, employee onboarding, educational initiatives to support an inclusive campus and community climate, consulting and partnering on various human resources related projects.
The human resources associate will contribute to a high functioning, strategic and collaborative human resources team that provides leadership and guidance to the campus community to attract, retain, motivate, and develop a high-performance workforce that contributes to a positive student experience. Professional and Faculty Recruitment and Selection
Under general direction, develop and implement a variety of sourcing and recruitment strategies designed to establish and expand diverse and robust talent pipelines and pathways for employment and promotion of faculty, staff, and administration.
Research and stay current with recruitment strategies and best practices. Make timely and appropriate recommendations for the enhancement of existing, or the addition of new recruitment strategies.
Coach and collaborate with hiring managers on recruitment planning and lifecycle areas such as job description development with a focus on inclusivity, appropriate advertising sources and media, charging of the search committee, review and interpretation of hiring recommendations, and final selection of candidates.
Participate in training search committees, hiring managers, administrators, academic and administrative department employees (faculty and staff) related to the recruitment process. Develop and enhance training programs delivered to the campus community related to effectively interviewing and selecting candidates.
Serve as a reviewer and approver of the College's applicant tracking system (ATS), search committee policies and processes, and respective recruitment policies and procedures which includes the following:
Serve as an actively engaged member of the College's first year experience committee working on developing and implementing various onboarding strategies that foster inclusivity and belonging to SUNY Cortland.
Manages the onboarding process from the point of employment offer through the first year of employment.
Collaborate with other HR staff and key stakeholders across campus to facilitate in person onboarding events.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for SUNY Cortland Onboarding, a PeopleAdmin automated tool to effectively manage, develop, refine and deliver on time onboarding and essential information and activities for new hires and their respective supervisors.
Assist in the development of onboarding related metrics, analytics, dashboards, and assist with onboarding and orientation related projects.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Educational Initiatives and HR Resource
Collaborate and partner with other HR staff and campus experts to facilitate and/or deliver programming that supports an inclusive work environment.
Serve as a resource for the campus by consulting on HR and employment related topics, with a focus on professional and faculty recruitment, determining staffing needs, interpretation and application of employment policies, interviewing processes, recruitment initiatives and day-to-day employment questions.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Lead or collaborate on HR related projects as needed.

Minimum of two years related HR experience
Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and recruitment practices.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management
Professional certification, academic coursework, certificate or degree related to human resources.
Recruiting experience in, or supporting higher education.
Demonstrated success at improving recruitment efforts (e.g., increased diversity in applicant pools, increased efficiencies in filling positions, proven record of meeting identified placement goals, etc.).
Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and human resources information systems. PeopleAdmin ATS highly preferred.
