This is a highly skilled position requiring the exercise of initiative and independent judgement. Position requires extensive knowledge of the University's policies and procedures relative to salaries, benefits, payroll, and personnel procedures. Position requires acuity for technology and understanding of dependencies and relationship of data systems and workflow processes. Work involves the responsibility to establish and maintain complex employee personnel, leave, benefits and payroll records. The HR Service Consultant interacts with all aspects of the University's community including the executive/administrative/clerical staff as well as the general public. The HR Service Consultant is involved in supporting the HR Call Center and HR Footprint ticketing system.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Establishes and maintains working relationships with key campus partners to establish and manage employee personnel, pay, leave and benefit records.
Documents, codes and processes all data necessary to support employee personnel records including new hires, terminations, re-appointments, status change and changes to personal demographic data. Gathers all prerequisite information for the hiring processing inclusive of tax and employment forms, payroll authorizations and background checks.
Provides day-to day customer service administration of HR Call Center and Footprint Ticketing Systems which are the primary communication resources for employees and university departments. The HR Service Consultant is expected to represent the department and University with the utmost professionalism in an attentive and positive manner. Candidate seeks opportunities to offer information and provide general assistance.
Conducts intensive and complex audits of employee records and pay files to assure compliance and accuracy of employee pay, leave and benefit data. Provides support for resolving pay issues.
Assists with HR Employment group for Front Desk coverage and other duties as assigned.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK: Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in accounting, management information systems, or related field from an accredited institution.
High school diploma or equivalent.
3-5 years’ experience in payroll and benefit processing and/or working with database applications.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement.
Ability to use analytical skills and to problem solve issues that arise through the Call Center/Footprint System.
Extensive knowledge of the University's policies and procedures relative to salaries, benefits, payroll, and personnel procedures and/or the ability to learn.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
Acuity for technology and understanding of dependencies and relationship of data systems and workflow processes.
Ability to establish and maintain complex employee personnel and payroll records.
Ability to interact professionally with all areas of the University community, including the executive/administrative/clerical staff as well as the general public.
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement.
Ability and willingness to serve as a member of the HR Call Center Team to provide excellent service to University employees and constituents
Ability to work independently and exercise confidentiality with employment information.
