The Division of Talent and Culture at West Virginia University is seeking applications for the HR Partner role. This position is one of several that will be part of a new service delivery model supporting all of WVU, which includes a Shared Services Center, embedded HR Partners and Centers of Expertise. This new model has provided internal employees growth opportunities, and as a result, we now have a variety of positions available across WVU.
The HR Partner (HRP) will be located at Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia, part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, and will collaborate with management to enable measurable impacts in employee engagement and productivity.
In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:
Provide the day-to-day performance management guidance to the Colleges'/Divisions' management through coaching, career development, counseling, and disciplinary actions. Manage and resolve employee-relations issues.
Create a people plan for the Colleges/Divisions and its various departments taking into account the broader T&C agenda and any specific people issues that may exist within the Colleges/Divisions.
Implement talent management processes for employees in departments within the Colleges/Divisions and provides thought-leadership on issues that may avail improved operation and performance of the Colleges/Divisions as a whole as well as the T&C division.
Provide support to stakeholders by coaching them to think innovatively about their work processes and team structures with a view of improving the College/Division's overall efficiencies.
Support the embedding of the Colleges'/Divisions' strategies at various departments and levels.
Provide guidance and input on workforce planning, College/Division unit restructures, ensuring that core T&C processes are applied appropriately and in a legally compliant manner.
Execute Center of Expertise (COE) strategies for people management, and talent management for key managerial positions and for stakeholders.
Develop a plan for the Colleges/Divisions to ensure that resources are managed strategically including an approach to recruitment of key personnel.
Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with other HR teams to develop and enhance solutions, processes, and programs that address current problems and avoid future ones.
Maintain healthy work relationships across the Colleges/Divisions. May participate in regular meetings with the various Colleges/Divisions departments, builds, and develops trusted relationships with the various departmental leaderships.
Team with other T&C teams in determining approaches to matters of recruitment, compensation, and other T&C functions in order to ensure that the programs in place are effective and efficient. Contribute to the formulation of solutions for the T&C division, Colleges/Divisions departments, and Colleges/Divisions-wide challenges.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the HR/legal requirements, internal and external, related to the day-to-day management of employees within the Colleges/Divisions, reducing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling employee satisfaction and retention.
Perform other duties, as well as duties delegated by the Senior HR Partner or the Executive HRP.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two (2) years of working experience in a professional HR position.
Demonstrate a strong understanding and experience working with multiple human resource disciplines, for example, employee relations, compensation practices, performance management, staffing, and employment.
Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices is a necessity, for example, in the areas of recruitment, compensation and training and development.
Strong communication and conflict resolution skills required.
Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and human resources information systems.
