The Sr. HR Generalist will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the organization’s human resources functions with a specific focus on Benefits Administration, Compliance, and Employee Relations. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources, this position works closely with programs and departments to build an efficient, strategic, and effective benefits programs and staffing structures for the entire organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and implement strategies to identify, develop and retain highly talented staff
Develop strategies that consciously maintain the history of strong staff retention and conduct activities to build and maintain our positive work culture
Collect, compile and analyze data on demographics and hiring activity for use in designing and implementing and developing affirmative action and diversity plans
Develop and implement efficient and effective workflow processes for HR services (including on-boarding, internal transfers, departures, etc.)
Oversee all benefits programs for the organization (i.e., retirement, medical, dental, vision, life insurances, disability, and wellness programs) including evaluating and working with brokers and vendors and keeping abreast of benefit trends in the market.
Assure organization compliance with provisions of HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, OSHA, Workers Compensation, and other benefits related plans and programs
Researches, develops, monitors and evaluates employee wellness and safety initiatives designed to promote a culture that improves the health, well-being, and the safety of employees.
Coordinate employee retirement plan committee efforts.
In partnership with other HR team members, design and implement a coherent staff orientation program that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and mission
Serve as a proactive thought partner and leader on HR policies and practices
Ensure that personnel policies and systems are maintained and updated as needed
Provide effective employee relations practices; Serve as coach to staff supervisors
Support employee work-life balance.
Provide ongoing recommendations for operational and strategic review/revision of current employee programs, policies and feedback based on exit interviews, orientations and other means available
Ensure HR records are appropriately retained and managed and complete required state and federal reporting
Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department
Essential Skills and Experience
Prior experience supporting the implementation of an HRIS System required.
Demonstrated commitment and experience developing and providing effective, mission-oriented, and compliant HR support.
7+ years of progressive HR experience.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems and ADP strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills; and ability to engage with staff at all levels and geographies of the organization.
Well-organized with an ability to multi-task.
Ability to interpret policies and apply them consistently across multiple contexts
Discretion in handling confidential matters with tact and diplomacy

Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field. Professional HR Credential (ex. PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is frequently required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. Also, may need to remain seated or standing for long periods of time, have the ability to perform repetitive motions, grasp objects, including a writing instrument, reach, walk, communicate verbally and hear well enough to detect nuances and receive detailed information. The employee is frequently required to push or pull objects, bend, squat, stand, or kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for data preparation or analysis, and expansive reading.
The working conditions described here is representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. The incumbent typically works indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels.
