The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director, Human Resources. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $60,000 - $75,000/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director, Human Resources, the Associate Director, Human Resources works as a collaborative partner with the Human Resources team and department leadership to create an environment of excellence and ensure that all DIA employees receive the training & development required to excel. Major responsibilities of this position include: develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive and welcoming orientation program; create and follow department policies to help develop an inclusive, warm, productive process and environment for staff and coaches from day one through the end of employment; develop and implement a manager toolkit to provide professional development opportunities for staff that fit within the University and department parameters; assist in driving a robust organizational climate to attract, develop, and retain high quality talent; oversight of the compensation transaction process (including job descriptions, contract maintenance, merit process and reclassifications); assist with recruitment process and payroll as needed; and perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director, Human Resources and Sr. Associate AD/CFO.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in HR/payroll/people management; Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information; Experience developing, implementing and overseeing onboarding/orientation program; Experience as preparer using on-line purchasing and payroll systems; Experience using MS Sharepoint, MS Access, and OrgChart Plus, or similar programs to organize, update, and maintain records; Experience with comprehensive employment background check process. Live Scan fingerprinting and Live Scan fingerprint rolling certification preferred; Prior experience with multi-million dollar budget management; Knowledge of California State CANRA Law; Demonstrated ability to on and off board staff in complex, fast-paced, work environment; Experience in a state / government institution a plus; Analytical skills to evaluate information to identify and resolve problems.
Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in assignments, deadlines, completing requirements, and workload; Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction; Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, subordinates and administrators; Incumbent must be able to work cooperatively with other University partments in a complex administrative environment; Ability to effectively communicate complex information about payroll and other issues to multiple constituencies; Skill in interpreting and explaining Staff Personnel Policies; Knowledge of University payroll and accounting practices and procedures, University purchasing procedures, and the University Financial System; Incumbent must have excellent writing and oral communication skills to communicate effectively at a variety of levels including University executive management, officials of the NCAA and Pac-12, administrators, staff, and coaches; Ability to work off and non-traditional hours; Demonstrated writing skills to complete concise, effective and grammatically correct administrative reports and correspondence; Ability to provide excellent customer service to members of the department as well as the University at large; Working knowledge of Intercollegiate Athletic Department is preferred; Working knowledge of and the ability to comply with the Pac-12 Conference and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.
