Sr. Human Resources Coordinatorwill provide a wide range of Human Resources support and consulting services to the Departments of Environmental Health & Engineering and Population, Family & Reproductive Health including: recruitment and payroll, leave and benefits administration, training and education, personnel records management and HR policy interpretation and information dissemination.. The position will serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty and staff with regards to Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices for JHU and will work cooperatively with department administrators on issues around employee relations.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Primarily responsible for coordinating the employment process to ensure an efficient and smooth process in accordance with all applicable university policies and procedures. Works with hiring managers to create job descriptions for new positions and prepares personnel requisitions for submission to Human Resources. Acts as the liaison to the Schools employment recruiters and compensation analysts as it relates to personnel requisitions for the department.
Processes payroll for both departments (including faculty, staff and students). This includes initiating all ISR transactions in accordance with proper policies to ensure appropriate employment, benefits and visa compliance and receiving and processing weekly timesheets.
Responsible for overseeing onboarding and exiting procedures for staff including ensuring the 120-day performance review is completed in a timely manner.
Responsible for assisting and advising managers and employees on leave administration including sick time, vacation time, holidays, leave of absence, family medical leave and other leaves as available. Will coordinate with University offices in the administration of these efforts as required by JHU policy.
May be the first point of contact for employees and supervisors on issues related to employee relations, benefits and other HR policy or procedure questions but knows when to refer issues to the Administrator, and benefits office.
Responsible for ensuring SAP Master data integrity for all positions and maintaining personnel records in accordance with department and University policy.
Monitor time and attendance forms for staff via e210 system and ensure data accuracy and timely submission and approval.
Coordinates visa process for the international faculty, fellows and staff.
Coordinates annual merit review process.
Assists Administrator in completing requests from University officials for school-wide and university-wide projects and initiatives.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.
Three (3) years related experience in human resources required. Demonstrated Human Resources and payroll knowledge and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the * JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. Preferred Qualifications PHR Certification & SAP experience preferred. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requires a strong customer service oriented approach and excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to effectively communicate with all levels of department personnel. Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others both within and outside Human Resources. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations in human resources. Working knowledge of emerging trends and practices in human resources with a continuous quality improvement focus. On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgments and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs and/or quality of service within the functional area. Requires experience listening to and advising employees on personnel issues and maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion. Experience writing and analyzing employee position descriptions preferred.
