ASSISTANT DEAN FOR HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION , School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) , to serve as the senior administrative leader for all aspects of human resources (HR) for the SA+P. Will serve as key administrative liaison between the Dean's Office and the constituent units of the school and MIT's central administrative units. Primary responsibilities include recommending policies and procedures, implementing administrative guidelines, and providing oversight of the HR functions of the school's academic departments and programs; providing guidance to departments, labs, and centers (DLCs) on interpreting and developing policies and procedures; maintaining collaborative relationships with DLCs and other offices; serving on committees and task forces; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the dean; and representing the SA+P on institutional assignments and professional activities.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a B.A./B.S.; ten years of high level administrative experience in a university, preferably in HR and academic affairs; proven success overseeing HR functions; demonstrated ability to lead and manage a wide variety of responsibilities in multiple functional areas in a fast-paced, dynamic organization; effective interpersonal communication skills and diplomacy; excellent active listening, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize multiple and often competing demands under deadline pressure; and working knowledge of the operations of complex research universities or research organizations. Must be able to synthesize information from multiple sources and provide succinct and actionable briefing materials and action plans; work independently; interpret existing or implement new policies and procedures; pay attention to detail but also to larger policy concerns; and innovate and solve complex problems.
