JOB SUMMARY: This position provides professional level employment, compensation services including job analysis, salary surveys, and policy and procedure information for the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. This position is responsible for personnel work requiring specialized knowledge of human resource policies & procedures.
POSITION: Full-time, 12-month generalist position in human resources at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting September 3, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. An excellent fringe benefits package is offered.
Assist the Director of Human Resources in handling a variety of human resource functions which include establish and apply appropriate operational procedures; monitor information and content of campus human resource’s web page; interpret department and university employment policies; perform administrative support functions; post on-line faculty and employee requisitions; provide information, written and/or oral, related to specifically assigned projects or reports; and act as liaison to Director of Human Resources and other staff members on various human resource topics.
Assist in solving operational problems and human resource issues, make recommendations regarding use of department resources in an effective and efficient manner, and assist on larger project assignments.
Primary person responsible for completion of faculty and P&A, Civil Service, bargaining unit, and non-work study students forms.
Prepare and submit requisition forms.& post notices of availability of campus positions and verify process appropriate forms to facilitate employment of faculty and employees.
Primary contact person for employees who have questions regarding appointment and benefits.
Provide compensation policy and procedure information to campus units. Meets with individual employees or groups and makes presentations on the current salary plan and/or responds to questions.
Assist in administering and/or coordinating employment-related University programs and projects (exit interviews, performance appraisals, FMLA, EEO programs, etc.). Writes letters and memoranda related to salary plans, policy interpretations, or related queries and/or rate schedule issues. Update and maintain employee personnel files to insure all information is current and accurate.

Coordinate employment-related programs and projects assigned to the University Personnel Department.
Consults with Director of Human Resources and compensation staff on specific problems related to the classification of requisitions.
Responsible for human resource management and information systems and related functions such as input HR data into information management system, process change in appointment status forms, complete reclassification forms, monitor and verify accuracy of information management system reports, update personnel file information on information system, and maintain data integrity of information system.
Effective and efficient coordination of functions with Business Office staff, including performing backup functions and constructive teambuilding.
Direct work of human resource staff and/or office service workers, work-study students, and interns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant human resource work experience totaling at least four years, and ability to read, write and understand English. Final job offer is contingent upon a completed background check, receipt of official college transcripts and authorization to work in the United States at the University of Minnesota.
