Reporting to the Director of HR and Faculty Affairs, the Manager will provide a broad range of support for the human resources, academic affairs and payroll functions in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Initiate and manage the new hire/appointment process for new faculty and staff, ensuring maximum efficiency; and process initial labor accounting profiles to ensure accurate salary and ad-comp distribution at the time of hire. Manage a departmental database tracking hires and terminations, ensuring compliance of licenses, certifications, required trainings, medical surveillance, etc.
Establish and maintain a customer service approach to the hire, onboarding, appointment and reappointment processes. Communicate regularly with departmental leadership, faculty and administrators, keeping all parties updated on the status of new hires, appointments and promotions. Conduct orientation for new faculty and staff.
Manage the NYPH appointment process and the annual reappointment process for all clinicians at NYPH/CUIMC, Lawrence and Hudson Valley Hospitals. Collaborate with NYPH Departments to manage the NYPH appointment/reappointment process for Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives and Physician Assistants, to include those employed by NYP, and monitor credentials on Departmental database. Ensure foreign faculty and staff meet all governmental and regulatory requirements in conjunction with the University's Office of Immigration Affairs. Communicate with departmental business office and research office regarding payroll issues, including salary allocations, start dates and grant funding issues. Process and track leaves of absence and terminations; communicate with Business Office to ensure accuracy of labor accounting profiles. Collaborate with the departmental business office to process malpractice insurance. Work with the Faculty Development Coordinator regarding the faculty promotions process, including tenure.
Prepare and maintain divisional organizational charts. In collaboration with the Payroll manager, process and assure accuracy of Service Corporation and Columbia University rosters. Attend Human Resource meetings and establish a solid working relationship with the payroll and human resource offices of CU and Service Corporation. Provide backup for colleagues when needed. Perform other related duties and special projects for the senior administrative team as assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Must possess related Human Resources experience.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with acute attention to details required.
Must have the ability to function independently and proactively troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels.
Must have the ability to handle highly confidential information and materials.
Proficiency in business software such as Excel, Word, Visio, etc. required.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in an academic Medical Center and familiarity with CU HR and accounting systems, such as ARC/PAC/FFE a plus.
