Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning and Development, we are searching for an Instructional Designer. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will join a high-performing work team to create and continuously improve upon learning programs using an array of creative approaches that engage learners and drive productivity.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Scoping, designing and developing learning programs and materials that support a variety of delivery types, including self-paced, blended and leader-led (live facilitation) formats.
Managing instructional design process working with project owners and partners and serving as liaison between HR colleagues, communications team and subject matter experts.
Crafting learning experiences that engage and excite employees while aligning with organizational needs within resource constraints.
Supporting, managing and/or guiding partners through collaborative design process to ensure effective design, development, implementation and feedback.
Applying adult learning theory to design practical, consistent, user-friendly content using current tools and platforms.
Designing content such as slides, teaching aids, handbooks, webinars, tutorials and reference guides for widespread organizational change initiatives in areas of systems, processes and core competencies.
Creating consistent facilitator guides and train-the-trainer materials and documentation support.
Assessing needs and delivering on intended learning and organizational outcomes.
Using analytics and user feedback to recommend improvements for each design cycle.
Designing and developing consistent and innovative content that is quickly scalable to a dynamic organization and aligns to the CMU and Office of Human Resources brand.

You should demonstrate:
Capability to balance projects and tasks in a fast-paced setting with poise and calm under pressure;
Comprehensive knowledge and proven application of learner-centered, performance-based instructional theories and adult learning principles in multi-modal instruction;
Strong social skills with proven success in building and maintaining effective working partnerships across all areas; and
Solid attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines, effectively prioritize, self-manage and tolerate ambiguity.
A bachelor's degree in relevant field; demonstrated experience in instructional design may be substituted for education.
Minimum one year of training, professional development or related experience required; experience in human resources and/or an environment with rapid change highly desired.
Proficient use of Microsoft applications, eLearning publishing and learning assessments, SkillSoft, Articulate and Confluence.
