This role will support School of Nursing, human resources, activities for a fixed duration of 6-months. During this time, the human resources manager will work within a team setting on multiple tasks as outlined below. Responsibilities:OPERATIONS *In support of all faculty and staff advise and consult with hiring managers at all levels in matters related to HR management: compensation; performance management; collective bargaining agreements; recruitment and retention; conflict resolution; and organizational structure. *Facilitate annual merit and performance evaluation processes for all faculty and staff. *Work closely with SoN leaders on issues regarding confidential administrative and operational matters *Draft confidential correspondence for SoN leaders *Serve as an approver for HR transactions and system authorizations *Participate in School-wide and campus-wide projects and committees and represent the School within the University on matters related to enhancing the development and diversity of the faculty, staff, and student employees of the SoN *Oversee and maintain the new faculty appointment process, including records management *Support the SoN Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) committee and other school and faculty leadership meetings as assigned. *Support the Faculty Council as assigned, including maintaining expertise in Robert's Rules of Order. *Serve as a liaison with the School of Nursing and Graduate School on ASE issues *Provide guidance and oversight to Staff across the SoN that coordinate activities related to Auxiliary Faculty and ASE appointments, reappointment, and retention issues *Approve and initiate course payments for ASEs enrolled in fee-based (PCE) programs. *Maintain ASE AHR documentation, including the SharePoint/Intranet site *Develop and maintain hiring/ appointment Checklists and Offer Letter templates for auxiliary faculty and ASEs *Provide support the for SoN Preceptor process and the ladder-track Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure program EXPERT POLICY/PROCEDURE RESOURCE *Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of School, University, State and Federal policies and practices *Understand and appropriately implement various UW HR policies and procedures *Serve as a general resource for departments and units regarding HR policies and procedures: *Serve as a consultant to search committee chairs and department chairs in faculty and staff recruitment as requested; assist search committee chairs in recruiting a diverse and highly qualified applicant pool *Research, Interpret and implement new/existing University and School policies and procedures for SoN administrators, department chairs and others as needed/requested. COMPLIANCE *Develop and maintain compliant ASE standard appointment and reappointment templates *Serve as a UW/UAW ASE rules and compliance expert *Act as backup to the SoN liaison (Director of HR) in dealings with UW Labor Relations, the Graduate School, and the UW/UAW regarding ASE *Facilitate and maintain compliant HR processes for all categories of regular and auxiliary faculty, professional and classified staff. PROCESS IMPROVEMENT *Apply knowledge of the University of Washington and SoN to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR/OD department; furnish decision-makers with well-researched solutions to continual and non-recurring challenges facing the organization *Suggest, develop and implement administrative processes and/or process improvements at the Office of Dean level *Facilitate efficient processes and policy implementation across all HR and Organizational Development related matters. MISCELLANEOUS: *Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing mission and strategic plans of the School and the department Minimum Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field and 2 to 3 years of related experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.Additional Requirements:*Thorough knowledge of HR policies, procedures, principles, and practices. Personnel and salary administration, recruitment techniques and management. *Knowledge and experience with Workday. *Ability to handle confidential information with tact, discretion, and diplomacy, and to maintain strict confidentiality. *Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. *Exhibit a proactive, service-oriented manner and ability to deal effectively with a diverse and demanding client base. *Ability to research and synthesize information and communicate it effectively to lay audiences in verbal and written form. *Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage priorities, multi-task, problem solve and exercise good judgment in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment. *Proven accuracy and attention to detail in work products. *Professional level competency with general MS Office applications, e.g, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ability to learn new software applications as necessary to do the job Desired:*Knowledge of University of Washington policies and procedures related to human resources*Workday experience within an academic setting*PHR or SPHRConditions of employment: This position is planned for 6-months in duration.
