This position is 50% transactional work to review, approve and advise on hiring actions for temporary staff employees (over 1,000 annually).
The other 50% of the time is consulting, training, and monitoring the hiring process for temporary staff and student employment assignments (over 5,000 annually).
The ideal candidate must have:
Experience with both hourly and salaried positions to determine correct FLSA exemption.
Experience in compensation to set and discuss pay rates and be able to create and maintain a salary structure for temporary employees.
Employee relations experience to consult and advise supervisors on employment matters in regards to temporary employees.
They will also have/or be:
The ability to work with multiple computer systems and databases.

An eye for details in spotting mistakes and missing information.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
Consulting skills and diplomacy.
Able to troubleshoot the Human Resources and Applicant tracking systems to assist the end users when they encounter problems.

Able to focus and know how to prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
A strong understanding of state and federal labor and equal employment opportunity laws and how they relate to temporary employment.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Two to five years of experience as an HR generalist.
Two to five years of Human Resources experience in higher education.
Human Resources certification(s) i.e. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR.
Knowledge of unfair hiring practices and employee relations investigations.
An understanding of compensation models to communicate / negotiate pay rates.
Experience in document scanning / imaging systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access. Power Point presentations.
Proficient with Google Mail and Google docs.
Capable of explaining policies and procedures to a varied and diverse employee and clientele environment.
Proven accountability for actions and decisions.
Shows initiative and is adaptable to the ever-changing world of Human Resources.
Able to work under time constraints, administrative and professional office and educational institutional pressure and can work independently.
Proven team player, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
Human Resources consulting experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication and grammar skills.
Change management experience.
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills making skills.
Applicant Tracking System experience (People Admin preferred) and other Human Resources technology software experience.
A strong understanding of Federal and State, labor and equal employment opportunity laws and how they relate to temporary employment.
