NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Human Resource Administrative Assistant. NEC is situated within the White Mountains of Arizona, 180 miles NE of Phoenix. It is a place of beautiful scenery and mild climate, with a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors. The area abounds in opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoors sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will assist with various aspects of the cooperative’s recruitment policies and procedures, benefits administration, compliance reporting, maintenance of personnel files, formulation and administration of human resource policies and procedures.
Assist new employees with all required employment and benefit forms, distribute Summary Plan Descriptions of the NEC benefits, the NEC handbook and Safety Manual and perform an employee orientation of rules and benefits to new employees.
Assist in processing all paperwork on new hires, promotions, retirements and terminations.
File, maintain and update confidential records. Respond to verbal and written verification of employment.
Assist with Group Benefit administration.
Assist in the processing of 401(k) contributions and R&S pension contributions.
May assist employees in the processing of 401(k) loans, quote and process payoffs and maintain accurate records of such.
Provide assistance and back up for on-the-job injury claims procedures.
Provide information, and maintain a working knowledge of NEC rules and benefits, in order to assist employees that may make inquiries pertaining to the above.
Assist with continuing education programs for employees.
Act as back-up on the Commercial Drivers License rules and regulations as they pertain to CDL driver files.
Provide administrative assistance and overall back-up to the Manager of Human Resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Assist the Loss Control Administrator in:
Creating and maintaining Loss Control files and folders
Filing claims, maintaining up to date records, and monitoring claim status.
The collection of documents and statements relating to claims, and in assigning case numbers.
Incident reporting, and with general correspondence, phone calls, emails, and certified mailings.
Inputting information into Loss Control Database, scanning related files, and attaching to case in database.
Investigating claims by gathering information from claimants, NEC personnel and outside sources.
2. Wellness Program
Assist with administrative duties related to NEC’s Voluntary Wellness Program.
1. Associate’s Degree in Business, Certificate of Applied Science or Vocational Training Certification in business or office administration.
Previous Job Experience
1. Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in an office/administration setting required.
2. Three years’ experience in benefit administration is preferred.
Possess strong verbal/written and presentation skills.
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret professional journals and governmental regulations.
Knowledgeable background and understanding of technical writing as it pertains to benefit plan descriptions.
Must be able to efficiently and effectively use computer software programs and a PC.
Must be able to efficiently and effectively write reports, business correspondence, and procedures/processes.
Have the ability to deal with public in a pleasant and efficient manner.
Have proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to proof read and corrects spellings, misuse of language, etc., in documents vital to the cooperative.
Ability to operate office machines proficiently and accurately.
Ability to use good judgment and make necessary decisions in line with the co-op’s goals and standards.
Have organizational ability, which may include scheduling and making necessary travel reservations.
Possess the ability to be multi task and detailed oriented.
Be willing and capable to travel for educational and job responsibility duties. Some overnight stays may be required.
Ability to work independently of others and maintain a high level of productivity.
Knowledge of rural electrification and cooperative programs helpful.
Be able to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of cooperative policies, programs, and practices.
Have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
HOURS OF OPERATION:4/10s The cooperative is on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday).
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.
