This position provides human resources support to Engineering Research Operations (ERO) within the College of Engineering (CoE); works as a team member to provide high level customer service to assigned College-level Research Centers (CRCs) personnel, including student workers, graduate employees, staff, researchers, faculty and visitors ; ensures processing of HR items are timely, efficient, accurate and in compliance; serves as point of contact for all student and short-term staff and visitor appointment information and supports the employment life-cycle processes; initiates human resource transactions; responsible for ensuring all required documentation is obtained and conforms to university guidelines prior to submitting for approval; as directed by the college Internal Control structure, ensures segregation of duties in the processing of every transaction, appropriate mandatory approvals and reconciliation; assists unit with recruitment and selection of student workers; works with hiring managers and relevant CoE and ERO personnel and supervisor to ensure appropriate appointment designation, funding availability and compliance requirements; responsible for assigned centers HR biweekly and monthly reconciliations; initiates, verifies and answers questions related to new hire paperwork, letters of offer, and graduate appointments; provides HR and unit onboarding and exit information, and completes appropriate checklists, as required by assigned centers; processes and ensures compliance with employee eligibility verification; consults with CoE Immigration Specialist on immigration processing for international students and employees and initiatives J-1 Visas for exchange visitors; works with the College Business Operations Center (BOC) to ensure efficient processing of human resource transactions; responds to inquiries from students regarding human resources policies and consults with supervisor or Human Resources Managers, as required; maintains center personnel reports and personnel records, per university retention schedule; serves on committees and works on special projects as assigned.
