This position provides administrative human resources support for the university's Office of Human Resources. This includes administering employment activities and contracting; managing human resource records and databases; and providing general administrative support. Position prepares employment documents and processes change forms for academic staff fixed-term terminal appointments, university staff temporary and summer appointments; maintains the Department's website; maintains databases and employee records; and provides office management support. This position requires the use of discretion and judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
Knowledge of employment laws, statutes, regulations, and human resources policies and procedures.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing as appropriate so that others will understand.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to effectively manage one's own time and the time of others.
Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities and complete multiple tasks in stressful conditions under strict timelines.

Proficient in the use of word processing (preferably MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), database (preferably MS Access), e-mail, Internet and enterprise resource information systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft.
Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources.
Professional in Human Resources or SHRM certification.
Experience in higher education and/or public service.
Two years' work experience in Human Resources.
