The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Office of Human Resources invites applications for an HR Partner. The HR partner (HRP) position is responsible for aligning university objectives with employees, management, and academic leadership in the division of Administration & Finance, Diversity & Inclusion, Student Affairs, and University Advancement. The position serves as a consultant to management and academic leadership on human resource-related issues including employee relations and training. The successful HRP acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs to occur proactively with our HR department, working unit management and academic leadership. The HRP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and academic leadership as well as employees that reflects the University’s objectives for the organization. The position may include the coordination of onboarding activities for new employees that will require immigration sponsorship. The HRP maintains an effective level of organizational literacy about the University unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.
Required qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Organizational Management, or related field is required. • One to three years of experience working in a Human Resources Department. • SHRM-CP or SHRM SCP / PHR or SPHR credential is required; or if candidate is not credentialed must receive credential within one year of appointment. • The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong acumen for business vernacular. • The successful candidate must present evidence of past success in complex and difficult conversations and communication styles. • Candidate must possess a strong ethical sense, global and cultural awareness, and expertise in building/strengthening existing relationships. • Demonstrated experience using Office 365, enterprise resource systems, (PeopleSoft preferred), and talent management software.
Preferred qualifications include:
Master’s degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Organizational Management, or related field. • Experience and demonstrated understanding of higher education operations, including faculty and staff relations.
