The Gillen Brewer School seeks a Human Resources Manager to carry out responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, training, policy administration and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute to the development of HR systems, processes and operations, to ensure greater efficiencies. This is a full-time position reporting to the CFO.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development, communication and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Identify staff vacancies and participate in the advertising, vetting and interviewing of select applicants.
Draft and update job descriptions; assist in classifying and/or reclassifying employees as appropriate under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Manage and oversee new employee onboarding process including employment forms, background checks, and employee benefits.
Manage employee separation process including retirements and terminations.
Maintain Employee Handbook and recommend changes.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
Assist in evaluation, selection and implementation of benefits programs along with the development of employee benefits budgets.
Manage and coordinate benefits programs, including all employee communication, problem solving and claims resolution.
Coordinate employee-training programs, including Sexual Harassment Prevention, Mandatory Reporting, and other required programs for all employees.
Manage employee time and attendance records, personal days, professional development, etc.
Maintain HR database with earning updates, status changes, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions.
Regularly review human resource systems, controls and filing compliance with Chief Financial Officer. Undertake any compliance related tasks necessary to keep employee files up to date, and to securely archive inactive records.
Bachelors in HR Management or related field and/or relevant experience, preferably working in an independent school.
PHR or SPHR Certification required.
Minimum of five years of experience in benefits administration and HR management.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, solve problems, and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school community.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
Ability to plan, organize and work independently with minimal direction.
