The Office of Human Resources (OHR) at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for full-time (1.00), 12-month fixed-term positions as Human Resources Technicians. These temporary positions will vary in duration based on work needs but are anticipated to last from 6 – 12 months.
The HR Service Center teams within the Office of Human Resources provide quality services to achieve effective management of a workforce supporting teaching, research, and public service at Oregon State University. The HR Service Center teams are located in three centralized areas on and adjacent to campus: Hovland Hall, Snell Hall and University Plaza.
The Human Resources Technician provides technical-level administrative support to the human resources (HR) teams in the various locations and their customers. The HR Technician is responsible for performing procedural, transactional, and administrative processing in the areas of student and temporary employee recruitment and selection, employee onboarding, and employee records and reporting. The HR Technician is often the first point of contact for walk-in traffic and customers that come in to the HR Centers. The HR Technician works under general guidance from the Human Resources Consultant 2 (HRC2).
The defined qualifications will need to be identified in the Minimum/Required Qualifications field.
Two years of human resources clerical support experience directly assisting human resources professionals in the administrative functions of a human resources program; or three years progressively responsible administrative, clerical or record-keeping support experience.
College-level course work may substitute for the general experience requirement based on 45-quarter units per year.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences in writing and oral expression.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and makes appropriate recommendations. Proven strong organizational skills.
Proven exceptional customer service skills. Experience working in a fast paced environment. Experience managing difficult customers and situations.
Experience effectively collaborating and building relationships with key stakeholders. Intermediate experience with the following software: Microsoft Office applications, Windows-based software, web-based applications.
Entry-level experience with database and reporting tools.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position will primarily adhere to a normal business schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (M-F). This position will occasionally work away from primary work site for hiring sessions, interview sessions, training, etc.
