HR Coordinator will provide a wide range of human resource support and service to the Center for American Indian Health (CAIH) at both Baltimore and off-site locations throughout Arizona/New Mexico.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Department and Center
Management, will provide support and guidance for recruitment and employment, compensation administration, benefits administration, employee relations (including grievance resolution, disciplinary action, layoffs, and termination), training and education, personnel records management, and performance management.
The HR Coordinator is the first and primary point of contact for CAIH faculty and
management with regards to JHU human resource policies, procedures, and practices.
Serve as CAIH staff resource and work with management staff and Field Administrator regarding HR issues.
Advise the CAIH field administrator and supervisors on matters regarding hiring, firing, and disciplinary decisions.
Work with CAIH faculty and hiring managers to create appropriate job descriptions and prepare personnel requisitions for submission to Human Resources.
Act as the CAIH liaison to the School of Public Health employment recruiters and
compensation analysts as it relates to personnel requisitions and position reclassification reviews for the Center for American Indian Health.
Maintain and enhance personnel records system.
Monitor time and attendance system (E210) for staff and act as timekeeper for system.
Provide information related to University policies and procedures to the field administrator and disseminate information to field staff.
Track and assist with annual merit review process; using departmental and university guidelines to advise management on merit increases.
Track and assist supervisors with the 90 day reviews of field staff.
Responsible for all related processes for those employees terminating or transferring.
Liaison with International Office regarding visa issues for CAIH Faculty and staff
positions, ensure all documentation is submitted appropriately.
Assist and advise CAIH managers and employees on sick time, vacation time, holidays, leave of absence, family medical leave, short-term disability, payroll, tuition reimbursement, etc.
Advise and assist field administrator and supervisors when gathering sensitive
information and discuss with Administrator and HR for grievances, disciplinary actions and other personnel matters.
Advise administration on matters concerning compensation and equity of employee groups.
Coordinate training of new hires, and continued training for existing employees, including HIPAA regulations.
Coordinate placing job ads for positions with HR and also posting positions in the JHU system.
Creates/Maintains new and existing employee files.
Prepare and submit all HR related electronic Internal Service Requests (ISR).
Assist Financial Manager to track and project personnel budgets.
Prepare reports for financial manager as related to departmental budgets and salaries.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
High School Diploma/GED. Three years related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
SAP experience preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Work independently with minimal supervision. Able to travel to field sites for at least one week per visit.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
