JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, The Payroll Processing Specialist will be responsible for calculating employee payments for Vanderbilt University Medical Center data. Ensuring critical deadlines are met to distribute accurate and timely payments to employees. Maintains all forms with appropriate authorization required. Ensures all employee data is accurate.
Gross to net payroll calculation for weekly, biweekly and monthly payrolls with a high volume of employees. Process payroll checks via automated payroll system and the ability to calculate manually when needed. Verify, enter and audit documents submitted for payment. Enter adjustments and process corrections.
Research issues for payroll earnings, deductions, taxes, leave balances, benefits and general ledger
Maintains a relationship with HR partners and external vendors.
Audits data entered for completeness and accuracy and appropriately follows up on inaccurate data.
Evaluates, assesses and responds promptly to customer inquiries through phone and email.
Actively participates as a team member assisting other department members with payroll processing, issues and training.
Work with other departments to initiate/perform transactions.

Educate customers on processes related to job functions. Respond to emails from group mailboxes.
Job requires High school graduate or GED and 2 years of experience or the equivalent.
Experience with Kronos and/or PeopleSoft preferred but not required.
Intermediate Excel skills needed.
